Chhattisgarh University to establish Srimanta Sankardeva chair, initiated by Governor Ramen Deka

Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is set to establish a dedicated chair in the name of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva. 

The initiative, spearheaded by Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka, aims to promote the philosophical and cultural legacy of the revered Assamese saint within the state's higher education system.

Governor Deka, an Assamese native, proposed the establishment of the chair to the Chhattisgarh government, emphasizing the importance of disseminating Sankardeva's life and teachings beyond Assam's borders. The announcement was made during a reception held at Padmavati Alhighar in Bokakhat, Assam.

The reception, according to Dalim Kalita, a resident of Padmavati Alhighar, was organized to commemorate the wedding of Governor Deka's son. This event provided the platform for Governor Deka to publicly reveal his initiative, highlighting his commitment to fostering cultural exchange and academic enrichment. The establishment of the Srimanta Sankardeva Chair is expected to facilitate scholarly research and educational programs focused on the saint's contributions to literature, art, and philosophy.
