Assam BJP spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami on August 24 accused the Congress party and its allies—AIUDF, Raijor Dal, and Asom Jatiya Parishad of paving the way for the “domination of infiltrators” in Assam.
The BJP spokesperson, issuing a strong statement, claimed that under the influence of Congress and allied parties, Maulana Arshad Madani and Maulana Mahmood Madani are projected to act as “political advisors” to the Assam government. According to him, such a development would marginalize indigenous Assamese Hindus, Muslims, and Indian-origin citizens.
The spokesperson further alleged that the so-called “Madani culture” was first introduced to Assam by the Congress party, and later, during the NRC process, by noted left-leaning intellectual Hiren Gohain.
He criticized not only Congress and its allies but also a section of leftist intellectuals, holding them responsible for encouraging this cultural-political trend that, in his view, poses a threat to Assam’s indigenous identity.
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, August 23 slammed Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind chief's statement over hate speech and demanding his removal from the post of Assam CM.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister slammed the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind led by President Maulana Mahmood Madani , asserting that the organisation’s brand of politics had lost relevance and credibility in present-day Assam.
