Congress protests in Diphu against minister Ashok Singhal’s ‘animal’ remark

The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KA-DCC) staged a protest on August 30 near its office in Diphu, condemning Assam Health and Family Welfare and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal for likening the Congress party to an “animal” during a public meeting in Dhekiajuli.

The remark sparked widespread outrage among Congress leaders and workers.

Raton Engti, President of KA-DCC, criticised Singhal’s comment, saying, “Such remarks are unacceptable and insulting to our party and its workers.”

The protest saw participation from senior Congress leaders, including Jagat Sing Engti, Bidya Sing Rongpi, Purnima Ronghangpi, Charisma Rongpipi, Sanjee Teron, Junmili Teronpi, and other office bearers of KA-DCC.

Leaders and workers demanded an apology from the minister and stressed the need for respect in political discourse, reiterating the party’s commitment to continue advocating for the people of Assam despite such controversies.
