Crushing defeat awaits Congress in Panchayat elections: Assam minister Atul Bora

Assam Cabinet minister and AGP leader Atul Bora, while campaigning for the upcoming Panchayat elections, launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, predicting a resounding defeat for the opposition in the grassroots polls.

Speaking at a rally, Bora declared, "The Congress party’s funeral procession will begin right after the Panchayat elections," asserting that the electorate has already distanced itself from the party, both emotionally and politically. He further claimed that the Congress would suffer a "crushing defeat" at the hands of the ruling alliance.

Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led coalition government, Bora credited the "double-engine government" — a term used to describe BJP rule at both state and central levels — for delivering rapid development across Assam. "If we are able to form the Panchayat government through our alliance, then with a triple-engine government, even greater development will follow," he said, appealing to voters to strengthen the ruling coalition at the grassroots level.

Bora also dismissed remarks made by Assam Congress president Bhupen Bora, stating, "I have no response to give to Bhupen Bora; he keeps making contradictory statements every other day."

Turning his attention to Akhil Gogoi, the MLA and leader of the Raijor Dal, Bora alleged that the outfit was an offshoot of Congress politics. "Raijor Dal is a political party born out of Congress's lineage. I do not even consider Akhil Gogoi's Raijor Dal as a proper political party," he remarked.
