Cyber crime awareness programme conducted in Assam's Kokrajhar to tackle digital threats

In a proactive effort to combat the rising tide of digital threats and enhance cyber safety, a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme was conducted on Friday at Terapanth Bhawan in Kokrajhar. The initiative was jointly organised by the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the Kokrajhar District Police, with the aim of educating citizens about the growing risks and realities of cybercrime.

The event featured key officials from the Assam Police who served as resource persons, delivering comprehensive sessions on various forms of cyber offences. These included online fraud, phishing scams, identity theft, and misuse of social media platforms, among others.

Emphasising the alarming surge in cyber fraud and online scams, the police experts shared practical tips on safe internet practices, techniques for identifying suspicious online behaviour, and the process of reporting cyber offences to the appropriate authorities. Attendees were also informed about the legal remedies and safety measures available to victims of such crimes.

The awareness drive witnessed active participation from local residents, youth groups, and community dignitaries, reflecting a growing concern over digital security within the region.

Officials stressed the importance of community-level engagement and the need for citizens to remain vigilant and informed in the digital age.
