Cyclone Remal: Bangladesh reels under flood, Assam's Karimganj on high alert

In the aftermath of Cyclone Remal, large areas of Bangladesh have been inundated with floodwaters, prompting widespread concern and emergency responses.

The Indian government has issued a high alert for Karimganj district, which borders Bangladesh, due to the imminent threat of flooding.

Cyclone Remal made landfall earlier this week, bringing torrential rains and strong winds that have resulted in severe flooding across various regions in Bangladesh.

Rivers have overflowed, and many communities are now submerged, with thousands of residents displaced and in urgent need of assistance.

Given the geographical proximity and shared river systems, Karimganj district is at significant risk of experiencing similar flood conditions.

Authorities in Karimganj have been advised to prepare for potential floods, with disaster management teams on standby to ensure prompt evacuation and relief measures if necessary.
