Dacoit injured in Assam police encounter, Italian 9mm pistol seized

In a dramatic police encounter at Agratali, Bokakhat, an infamous dacoit named Pallav Basumatary was injured early this morning.

Basumatary, part of a three-member gang allegedly involved in multiple robbery cases, was shot during the police operation and is currently undergoing treatment at the Bokakhat sub-divisional hospital.

The incident unfolded in the wee hours when the dacoit gang, armed and dangerous, opened fire on the police. In the ensuing exchange, the police managed to apprehend two other gang members, Babu Saikia and Gautam Dal. 

An Italian 9mm pistol and four live bullets were seized from the gang, indicating their readiness for further criminal activities.

Authorities have linked the gang to a series of car and bike thefts, further highlighting the threat they posed to the community. 

The police operation aimed to dismantle their criminal network and restore safety in the region.

While Basumatary is being treated for his injuries, the police continue to investigate the full extent of the gang's criminal activities. 

The swift action by the police has been praised, with local residents expressing relief at the capture of the dangerous criminals.
