Dhubri’s Harijan Club turns Durga Puja pandal into a nostalgic 90s time capsule

A Durga Puja pandal in Assam’s Dhubri is taking visitors on a nostalgic journey back to the 1990s, recreating the sights and cultural memories of a bygone era.

Set up by the Harijan Club Puja Committee on Garikhana Road, the pandal has emerged as a talking point this festive season, attracting visitors with its retro-themed decorations and familiar visual elements inspired by the decade.

The concept was developed by Suraj Basfore, a member of the organising committee, with the aim of bringing back memories of the 1990s while offering younger visitors a glimpse into the era.

From its decor to its overall ambience, the pandal has been designed to evoke the simplicity and cultural charm associated with the decade. The theme has resonated with visitors, many of whom have described the experience as an emotional journey into their past.

“We wanted to bring back those cherished memories and give the younger generation a glimpse of the 90s era while letting older visitors relive their golden days,” Basfore said.

The initiative has added a distinctive touch to Dhubri’s Durga Puja celebrations, blending festive devotion with nostalgia and drawing crowds eager to revisit memories of the 1990s.
