Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan takes oath as ex-officio member of municipal corporation

Senior legislator from Dibrugarh constituency, Prasanta Phukan, on Wednesday took oath as an ex-officio member of the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation at a formal ceremony held at the corporation’s auditorium.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Dibrugarh Deputy Commissioner Bikram Kairi, Mayor Dr. Saikat Patra, ward commissioners, senior officials, distinguished citizens and well-wishers.

Speaking on the occasion, Phukan expressed gratitude to those present and said the new responsibility would further strengthen his commitment towards public service. He stated that he would continue to work with greater dedication for the welfare of the people and the overall development of Dibrugarh.

Officials said the inclusion of the senior MLA as an ex-officio member is expected to enhance coordination between the state government and the civic body in implementing development initiatives and addressing urban issues.

The event highlighted the corporation’s commitment to strengthening local governance and accelerating development projects aimed at improving civic amenities and public welfare in the city.
