Diphu witnessed a surge of protests on Monday after a viral video allegedly showing BJP MLA Bidyasing Engleng in a compromising situation sparked widespread outrage.
The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee and Mahila Congress staged a sit-in demonstration at the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Gate from 11 a.m., condemning the MLA’s alleged misconduct.
Congress leaders, led by APCC media panellist Charisma Rongpipi, said the incident was “unacceptable for a public representative” and eroded the dignity of the people’s mandate. They demanded immediate accountability, vowing to continue agitation until ethical standards in public life were upheld.

Meanwhile, public resentment spilled into the streets, with posters condemning the MLA plastered across Diphu town. Netizens amplified the demand for accountability, reflecting a growing frustration with lapses in political morality and a push for higher ethical benchmarks in governance.
