“Don’t ask me about that demon”: Businessman reacts to Siddharth Sharma's link to Zubeen's case

Musician and longtime accompanist to the late singer Zubeen Garg, Partha Pratim Goswami, accompanied by businessman Kishore Barua, appeared before the CID today, October 9 as part of an ongoing investigation into individuals associated with the singer.

Barua told reporters he had earlier lodged an FIR at Sarupeta police station and was summoned for questioning over three days. “Today I came and recorded my statement in court,” he said, adding that he is confident his testimony “will assist the investigation 200 per cent.”

Asked about fellow accused Siddharth Sharma, Barua responded sharply and refused to elaborate, calling Sharma a “demon.” When speaking of Zubeen Garg, Barua described the late artist as a formative influence on his life and career. “Zubeen was like God to me. If he weren’t there, I wouldn’t be a businessman today; I might have ended up as a bus handyman or conductor,” he said.

Barua also made highly charged remarks demanding visible, public retribution for those he holds responsible. “I want them to face public punishment. Let them be publicly hanged—we will stone them,” he told reporters. Such calls for vigilante action raise legal and ethical concerns and fall outside the due-process framework; authorities have not commented on those remarks.
