Drug trafficking angle emerges in SI Nabajit Das death case; vehicle owner arrested

The death of Sub-Inspector Nabajit Das, In-Charge of the Laisong Police Outpost in Dima Hasao, has taken a new turn with investigators suspecting a possible link to a vehicle allegedly associated with a drug trafficking case.

The vehicle, bearing registration number AS-02-AJ-4335, which allegedly hit SI Nabajit Das during naka checking in Laisong, is reportedly owned by Abdul Quddus of Juria in Nagaon district.

Following the development, a team of Dima Hasao Police reportedly reached Juria and took Quddus into custody for further questioning as part of the investigation.

Sources said Quddus is allegedly an accused in a drug trafficking case and has reportedly been named in multiple cases. There are also allegations that three of his sons have been booked in cases related to robbery and drug trafficking.

The circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s presence in the area and its alleged involvement in the fatal accident are now being examined by police.

The development has raised questions over whether SI Das's death was purely a road accident or whether there could be other factors behind the incident.

Police investigation is underway, and the exact circumstances will become clear once the probe is completed.
