Drugs worth nearly Rs 1 crore seized in Assam’s Nilambazar; one held

The Nilambazar Police in Sribhumi district seized suspected narcotics worth nearly Rs 1 crore during an operation carried out on the basis of specific intelligence inputs.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid in the Brahmanshasan area and recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets packed in 10 packets, officials said.

One person, identified as Jabir Uddin, a resident of Kandigram in Nilambazar, was arrested in connection with the seizure. He is suspected to be involved in drug trafficking, police added.

Further investigation is underway, and the accused is being interrogated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the consignment.
