Dust clouds disrupt daily life along Kenduguri–Chauliabari road in Assam’s Bajali
Residents and commuters have raised concerns over excessive dust and inconvenience along the Kenduguri–Chauliabari connecting road in Assam’s Bajali district, where ongoing road construction work has left the stretch in poor condition.
The existing road was reportedly dug up for paving and renovation work, but locals allege that inadequate dust-control measures have made the route difficult to use. Due to the failure to sprinkle water regularly, the stretch has become heavily dust-laden, causing hardship to pedestrians and motorists alike.
Small business establishments located along the roadside have also been affected, with shopkeepers complaining that their premises are constantly covered in dust.
Students and daily commuters are facing significant inconvenience while using the road, residents said. They further alleged that dumpers ply on the stretch in large numbers every day, aggravating the dust problem and posing safety risks.
Locals have urged the authorities concerned to take immediate steps, including regular water sprinkling and proper traffic management, to mitigate the difficulties faced by the public.
