Elder brother killed in front of mother over ancestral property dispute in Assam's Sribhumi

A sensational murder has been reported from West Nayagram, a border-area village under Nilambazar Police Station in Sribhumi district, where a man was allegedly killed by his two brothers over a long-standing ancestral property dispute.

 

The deceased has been identified as Tajel Hussain. According to reports, Tajel and his two younger brothers, Taj Uddin and Nizam Hussain, had been involved in a prolonged dispute over their ancestral property.

 

The incident reportedly took place at around 10 am on August 16, when Taj Uddin and Nizam Hussain allegedly attacked their elder brother with sharp weapons. The assault reportedly took place in front of their mother.

 

Tajel Hussain sustained multiple injuries in the attack and died at the spot.

 

Following the incident, the two accused brothers allegedly fled the scene.

 

On receiving information, a team of Nilambazar Police, led by Officer-in-Charge Anandamedhi, reached the spot and launched an investigation. DSP Headquarters Manas Pratim Choudhury also visited the site to take stock of the situation.

 

A preliminary investigation was conducted in the presence of a magistrate, following which the body was recovered and sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

 

Police have launched a search operation to trace the two accused brothers, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
