‘Every election crucial for indigenous identity’: Himanta says BJP manifesto in 2–3 days

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 24 asserted that every election in the state holds critical importance for safeguarding the identity and future of indigenous communities, as the BJP ramps up its campaign for the upcoming Assembly polls.

Addressing reporters, Sarma said the party’s election manifesto will be released within the next two to three days, outlining its vision and commitments for the state. He also announced the launch of the “Vijay Sankalp Sabha” from Wednesday, marking the next phase of the BJP’s campaign.

“Every election is crucial for the indigenous people of Assam; we have to survive, we have to preserve our identity,” the Chief Minister said, underlining the political narrative the party intends to project in the run-up to the polls.

Reviewing the recently concluded Jan Ashirwad Yatra, Sarma said the campaign had covered nearly 2,000 kilometres across 40 Assembly constituencies. He described the public response as “very positive,” expressing confidence that the momentum would translate into electoral success.

The BJP has been intensifying its outreach across the state ahead of the April 9 polling date, with senior leaders focusing on consolidating support and highlighting governance, identity, and development issues.

With the Vijay Sankalp Sabha set to begin and the manifesto release imminent, the party is entering a decisive phase of its election campaign, aiming to build on the feedback gathered during the statewide yatra.
