Farmer's son from Assam's Margherita scores 610 in NEET-UG, secures AIR 7320 despite poverty
Proving that determination and hard work can overcome even the toughest circumstances, Bishu Limbu, the son of a marginal farmer from Assam's Tinsukia district, has secured an impressive rank in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026.
Bishu, a resident of Ketetong 2 No. Nakang Pathar under the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency, scored 610 marks in the national medical entrance examination and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 7,320.
He is the son of Foud Limbu, a farmer, and Om Kumari Limbu. Despite growing up in severe financial hardship, Bishu remained focused on his studies and successfully overcame numerous challenges to achieve his dream.
His remarkable success has brought immense pride not only to his family but also to the entire Margherita region. Residents have hailed his achievement as an inspiration for students from economically weaker backgrounds who aspire to pursue higher education.
Bishu's accomplishment stands as a testament to perseverance, dedication and the belief that financial constraints cannot deter those determined to succeed. His success has sparked celebrations across the locality, with many describing him as a role model for the younger generation.
Speaking after the results, Bishu expressed gratitude to his parents and everyone who supported him throughout his academic journey and said he hopes to serve society as a doctor in the future.
