“First touch me, then see”: Hagrama Mohilary throws open challenge to rivals amid BTC secretariat vandalism row

Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Hagrama Mohilary on November 30 announced the schedule for the forthcoming Winter Session of the BTC Assembly while levelling sharp allegations against the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) over the vandalism at the BTCLA office on November 29 evening.

Addressing reporters at the Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar, Mohilary said the BTC Winter Session will be held from December 1 to December 3, with two working days allotted for official proceedings.

He also informed that Assam Cabinet Ministers Ajanta Neog and Jayanta Malla Barua are slated to attend a review meeting on December 1 as part of their scheduled visit to the region.

Speaking on the vandalism at the BTCLA office on November 29, Mohilary alleged that members of ABSU were behind the incident. Though ABSU has not claimed responsibility, he insisted that the organisation remains “directly accused” and criticised it for “misleading the students of Bodoland University”, resulting in unrest on campus. He clarified that while the BPF enjoys strong support among students, the party does not wish to involve them in political confrontation.

Mohilary further announced that the BPF will hold a mass gathering at Barma in Baksa district to showcase the party’s organisational strength. Issuing a strong challenge to his political rivals, he declared, “If anyone wants to challenge me, I am ready. First touch me, then see.”

Reasserting his confidence in the stability of the autonomous council, he remarked that even in his absence, “the BTC would continue to function as it is.”
