The Mankachar police detained five Bangladeshi nationals during a naka search on Mirjumla Road in the South Salmara Mankachar district, located along the Assam-Meghalaya border.
The individuals were intercepted around 9 PM while travelling by tempo from Meghalaya towards Mankachar, further verification revealed that three of the arrested individuals were women and two were men.
Authorities stated that the group had crossed into India through the international border in the Dalu region of Meghalaya. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding their illegal entry and whether there is any involvement in larger networks related to cross-border movement.

The apprehended Bangladeshis have been identified as Akash Hussain, Shafiqul Mondal, Sabina Aftan, Santa Begum and Pinky Akhtara. The Mankachar police continue to maintain heightened vigilance along the Assam-Meghalaya border to curb illegal immigration and ensure border security.
In addition to the five Bangladeshi nationals, the police also detained the tempo driver who was transporting them. The driver has been identified as Akhirul Islam, a resident of Pesarkandi village under the Mankachar police station. The tempo, bearing registration number AS-17C-3808, was coming from Meghalaya towards Mankachar has been seized.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police of South Salmara Mankachar district has reached Mankachar police station and began the interrogation process with the detained Bangladeshi nationals.
