Five injured after passenger vehicle plunges into ditch in Assam's Kokrajhar
At least five people were injured in a road accident near Ultapani along the Bishmuri–Saralpara road in the Sikhna Jwhwlao National Park area of Assam's Kokrajhar district on May 30.
According to reports, a passenger vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 FB 3867 was travelling from Goalpara towards the Saralpara picnic spot when the accident took place.
Sources said the vehicle was allegedly moving at a high speed when the driver lost control, causing it to skid off the road and plunge into a roadside ditch.
All five youths travelling in the vehicle sustained injuries in the mishap. Local residents and emergency responders rushed to the spot and assisted in rescuing the injured, who were later shifted for medical treatment.
The condition of the injured persons was not immediately known.
The incident has once again raised concerns over rash and negligent driving on roads passing through the national park area, where winding routes and speeding often increase the risk of accidents.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
