Five teachers injured in head-on collision in Assam’s Morigaon

At least five people were injured in a serious road accident at Oujari in Morigaon district on January 5, following a head-on collision between two vehicles, police said.

According to preliminary information, the accident involved a utility vehicle and a passenger car travelling in opposite directions. One vehicle was coming from Ghagua, while the other was heading from Morigaon towards Guwahati.

All the injured are teachers of Morigaon B.Ed College. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.

The injured have been identified as Nibedita Deka, Bornali Hazarika, Suchadita Deb Nandi, Lopamudra Das, and Bishal Chetri, sources said.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Traffic movement along the stretch was briefly disrupted before being restored.
