Flood situation improving, over 20,000 rescued in Assam's Sivasagar and Charaideo: Minister Bimal Borah

Assam Cabinet Minister and Guardian Minister for Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, Bimal Borah, on July 24 said the flood situation in the two worst-hit districts is gradually improving, with extensive relief and rescue operations continuing to support affected residents.

 

Speaking exclusively to India Today NE, Borah said essential commodities have been distributed to flood-affected families to ensure their safety and well-being.

 

"The situation is improving. Essential commodities have been provided to the flood-affected people so that they can remain safe," he said.

 

The minister informed that more than 20,000 people have been rescued so far, while around three lakh people have been affected by the floods across the region.

 

Borah said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has remained in constant touch with the Central Government regarding the evolving flood situation.

 

"The Chief Minister has spoken to the Centre about the current situation, and the Central Government has assured all necessary measures to reduce people's difficulties and help bring the situation under control," he said.

 

He added that the state government continues to monitor the situation closely while ensuring relief materials reach affected areas and necessary assistance is provided to displaced families.
