Four workers injured after under-construction bridge collapses in Assam’s Laharighat
Four workers were seriously injured after an under-construction bridge over Lali Beel collapsed in Laharighat area of Assam’s Morigaon district on February 18.
The incident took place on the Laharighat–Morigaon connecting Public Works Department (PWD) road, where reconstruction work on the bridge was underway. According to local sources, the structure gave way during construction, trapping the workers under debris.
The injured workers were immediately rescued and taken to Laharighat Adarsha Hospital for initial treatment. Owing to the seriousness of their injuries, all four were later referred to a hospital in Nagaon for advanced medical care.
The injured have been identified as Golzar Hussain, Mustafa Ahmed, Enamul Haque and Faruk Ahmed.
Local residents have alleged negligence on the part of the contractor, claiming that poor supervision and safety lapses may have led to the collapse.
