Gaurav Gogoi, Rahul Gandhi behave like kings: Assam minister Jayanta Mallabaruah
Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on March 13 launched a sharp attack on Congress leaders, accusing them of maintaining a royal mindset and distancing themselves from common people.
Taking aim at Gaurav Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi, Mallabaruah alleged that some opposition leaders behave like royalty and prefer interacting only with elites rather than the general public.
“Whether it is Gaurav Gogoi or Rahul Gandhi, these individuals perceive themselves as royalty and take pleasure in acting like kings. They are interested in meeting only with other members of the elite and have absolutely no inclination to interact with the common people,” the minister said.
Commenting on development initiatives in Assam, Mallabaruah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 4,570 crore in Kokrajhar.
He noted that adverse weather conditions prevented the Prime Minister from travelling from Guwahati to Kokrajhar in person, but the event proceeded with both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister addressing the public remotely from Guwahati.

“The Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for the entire project from here. The weather was very bad today, which is why he was unable to travel from Guwahati to reach this venue in person. Nevertheless, our Chief Minister and the Prime Minister addressed the public remotely,” Mallabaruah said.
He added that people were enthusiastic about the large-scale development push, which includes new roads, bridges, railway infrastructure and a wagon manufacturing unit, with investments exceeding Rs 5,000 crore.
Meanwhile, Biswajit Daimary welcomed the announcement, stating that the projects would significantly benefit the people of Assam, particularly in the Bodoland region.
“I am very happy, not only me but the people of Assam. This is not only for Bodoland but for the entire state,” Daimary said.
He highlighted that two major bridges will be constructed in the Bodoland region, which will greatly improve connectivity for residents who previously faced difficulties travelling between areas. In addition, several overbridges in the Kokrajhar district and bridges connecting the National Highway to Kokrajhar town and the Bodoland Secretariat will also be built.
Daimary expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for initiating the infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening connectivity and boosting development in the region.
