Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi lashed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of repeatedly taking decisions that have harmed farmers, the middle class, shopkeepers, and industries. Gogoi alleged that the Modi government’s sole objective is to weaken the constitutional rights of Indian citizens.
"PM Modi has only one goal- how to abolish the constitutional rights of the people in India and therefore, again and again, he took such decisions which caused harm to the farmers, small and middle class people, shopkeepers and industries suffered losses," Gogoi said.
Pointing to the ongoing economic concerns, Gogoi highlighted the government’s silence on rising fuel and LPG prices. “Today, look at the economic crisis that has come about the US tariff, their government is silent on it, the price of gas cylinder has been increased by Rs 50 but they are silent on that,” he said.
Gogoi further stated that people have also not received any relief in petrol and diesel prices, adding that the government remains silent on the real issues affecting the country.
Stating that the Congress is committed to restoring the constitutional rights envisioned by B. R. Ambedkar, he asserted that the party will address the country’s economic challenges.
He also spoke about growing enthusiasm within the party, particularly in Gujarat, following Rahul Gandhi’s recent announcement regarding the 2027 state elections. “There is tremendous enthusiasm in Gujarat. The 2027 elections will be a prime contest for the Congress Party, and we are committed to winning it. We have received strong support from the Gujarat Congress after the AICC plenary session,” he said.
Highlighting the Congress’s focus on economic policy and constitutional values, Gogoi added, “For us, upholding the Constitution is not just a slogan - it is a firm commitment, unlike the BJP.”
