Gauripur railway flyover opens, easing traffic bottleneck in Lower Assam
Dhubri District Guardian Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass has inaugurated the Gauripur railway flyover, delivering long-overdue relief from severe traffic jams on the Dhubri-Gauripur route.
The nearly one-kilometre structure, built by Dooars Construction Company at a cost of Rs 70 crore, replaces a notorious level crossing in Beparipatti. Work began in 2023 after years of commuter frustration from frequent train delays that snarled emergency services and local trade.
Minister Dass highlighted the impact at March 15 event. "The movement of people has become significantly easier from today," he said.
He credited the Chief Minister's leadership for spurring road and flyover projects statewide, calling the flyover proof of that drive.
Local leaders, including Gauripur MLA Nizanur Rahman, Dhubri Municipal Board Chairman Dr Debamoy Sanyal, and Gauripur Municipal Board Chairman Jaya Biswas, attended the ceremony.
Dass also pledged that a BJP win in upcoming assembly polls would tackle Dhubri's leftover development hurdles. The flyover promises shorter journeys and smoother goods transport, boosting the area's economy.
