"Government failed flood victims": Gaurav Gogoi's sharp attack in Assam's Morigaon

With an eye on the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on July 26 organised a Congress workers conference at the Morigaon Bihutoli, in collaboration with the Morigaon District Congress Committee.

 

The programme was attended by APCC president Gaurav Gogoi, along with district office-bearers, party functionaries and Congress workers from across Morigaon district.

 

Addressing the gathering, Gogoi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state and central governments, alleging that they had failed to adequately assist flood-affected people in Assam.

 

He said it is the responsibility of the state government to secure adequate financial assistance from the Centre for flood relief and rehabilitation, but claimed the government had failed to do so despite the severity of the flood situation.

 

Gogoi alleged that the people affected by the floods deserve timely support and comprehensive rehabilitation, and said governments must prioritise relief measures over political considerations. He urged Congress workers to remain connected with the public and strengthen the party's organisational base ahead of the by-election.

 

The workers conference witnessed the participation of party leaders and grassroots workers from across the district, with discussions focusing on organisational preparedness and strategy for the upcoming Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll.
