Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary visited the tribal-dominated regions of Tamulpur district, located along the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam. The visit, held on April 10, included interactions with the local Bodo community, known for their rich cultural traditions and sustainable indigenous practices.


Chaudhary was accompanied by Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, BTC MCLA Bijit Gwra Narzary, and several local officials. Upon his arrival, he was greeted with a vibrant and traditional Bagurumba dance performance by Bodo women, symbolizing the warm hospitality and cultural vibrancy of the region.


During the visit, the Gujarat Speaker explored various aspects of Bodoland's indigenous heritage, including traditional silk weaving and handloom craftsmanship, gaining insights into the intricate artisanal skills practiced by local communities. He also learned about Bathou, a spiritual practice intrinsic to Bodo culture, reflecting the community’s deep-rooted spiritual values.


Chaudhary also visited indigenous pig farming units, where he praised the community’s self-sufficiency, sustainable farming techniques, and eco-friendly lifestyle. Impressed by the resilience and cultural richness of the Bodo people, he commended their efforts to preserve their traditions amidst modern challenges.
