Gujarat cyclist completes 4,000 km solar awareness ride, reaches Assam's Margherita

In an inspiring journey blending endurance with environmental advocacy, Kotres T, a youth from Gujarat, arrived in Margherita, Assam on April 25, after completing a gruelling 28-day trans-India cycling expedition.

Covering nearly 4,000 kilometres, Kotres pedalled from Koteshwar on India’s western edge to the Northeast, showcasing remarkable determination and resilience.

The journey, however, was not just about physical endurance. It was aimed at raising awareness about solar energy and promoting the shift towards renewable energy as a response to global warming. Through his expedition, he encouraged citizens to adopt sustainable practices for a greener future.

Upon reaching Margherita, Kotres was warmly received by local residents. Visibly moved by the hospitality, he said the affection and support he received in Assam helped him overcome the fatigue of the long journey.

“The generosity of the Assamese people is unparalleled. The warmth I received here made me forget the exhaustion of the 4,000-kilometre ride,” he said, also praising the state’s natural beauty and cultural richness.

Residents organised a grand welcome to honour his achievement, celebrating both his athletic feat and his mission to spread awareness about environmental responsibility.

Kotres will now continue his journey towards his final destination, Nampong in Arunachal Pradesh, leaving behind a message that meaningful change can begin with the efforts of a single individual.
