Guwahati Apollo Excelcare hospital accused of medical negligence in patient's death

A private hospital in Guwahati, Apollo Excelcare, faces explosive allegations of medical negligence and misconduct following the death of a patient from Morigaon. The incident has drawn sharp criticism of the state's health department, accused of maintaining silence despite mounting concerns about the hospital's practices.

Bhadrakant Bora, a resident of Morigaon, was admitted to Apollo Excelcare Hospital on November 13. However, his condition reportedly worsened due to alleged mistreatment by Dr. Dev Kumar Borgohain. Bora passed away on November 18, prompting his son to accuse the hospital and the doctor of negligence, calling it a "murder under the guise of treatment."

The bereaved family has alleged that the hospital prioritizes profit over patient welfare, turning vital medical services into a business. This case adds to a growing list of complaints against the private healthcare sector in Assam, which many say operates with little accountability.

Despite public outcry and widespread media coverage, the state's Biagom Health Department has yet to take definitive action. Critics have accused the department of maintaining a "mysterious silence" on the matter, fueling public anger and calls for justice.

As investigations into Bora's death unfold, pressure mounts on the authorities to regulate private healthcare and hold medical institutions accountable for lapses in patient care.
