Guwahati plunges into darkness as heavy rains, thunderstorms strike city

Early morning thunderstorms and intense rainfall plunged Guwahati into widespread darkness today, April 28 disrupting daily life across the city. 

Strong winds accompanied the downpour, leading to extensive power outages, severe waterlogging, and traffic snarls in multiple areas just as residents were preparing for their daily commute to offices and schools.

Several neighborhoods reported complete blackouts amid heavy storm activity, while submerged roads caused significant delays in morning traffic. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further heavy showers in the coming hours, prompting authorities to stay on alert for additional disruptions.
