Guwahati-Shillong road closed after 14-wheeler gas tanker overturns in Jorabat

In a harrowing incident at the 13-mile mark in Jorabat, a large gas tanker lost control, plunging onto the roadway and causing chaos. Jorabat route has been shut down entirely in response.

Eyewitnesses report that the 14-wheeler tanker, bearing the license plate GJ 12 BV 2645, was en route to Upper Assam when it veered out of control and careened onto the road below. Panic ensued as the vehicle, carrying gas, posed a grave threat.

Thankfully, prompt action was taken to avert disaster. The fire brigade swiftly arrived at the scene, deploying preventive measures in anticipation of potential dangers posed by the tanker's cargo.

Even before any imminent peril materialized, the sixth fire brigade was on-site, ensuring the safety of those in the vicinity.

Authorities are actively engaged in managing the aftermath. Jorabat traffic police, in coordination with the disaster mitigation department, have swiftly responded to the situation, working to mitigate risks and restore normalcy to the affected area.
