Tragedy struck the festive atmosphere of Bihu celebrations in Kahilipara as a young man was murdered during a late-night altercation near the Kahilipara Post Office.
The victim, identified as Akash Choudhury, reportedly became involved in a heated argument with friends while drinking. The argument escalated into violence, leading to his untimely death.
The grieving mother of the deceased has called for justice, expressing anguish over her son’s brutal killing.
Local residents believe there might have been an attempt to disguise the murder as an accident, as Akash’s body showed visible injuries. Police arrived at the scene and transported the body to Hayat Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The Bhagadattapur police have launched an investigation into the case, identifying four suspects: Banojit Rajbanshi, Tapan, Mallik, and Jiyarul Ali. According to sources, Jiyarul Ali has confessed to his involvement in the crime, providing leads for further investigation. However, the remaining three suspects are currently absconding, prompting a city-wide manhunt.
The incident has left the community in shock, overshadowing the joyous spirit of Bihu.
Local authorities have assured that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
