Haflong Government College students suspend agitation after Assam University assurance

The Haflong Government College Students' Union has temporarily suspended its ongoing agitation after Assam University assured that the issues raised by students would be addressed within 72 hours.

The students' body had launched the protest over various academic and administrative issues affecting the college. The agitation prompted discussions between representatives of the students' union and officials of Assam University.

During the talks, university authorities reportedly assured the students that their concerns would be resolved at the earliest. Following the assurance, the students' union decided to suspend the agitation for the time being.

However, union leaders clarified that the suspension is only temporary and that they will closely monitor the university's response and actions in the coming days.

The students' body also warned that if Assam University fails to fulfil its commitments within the stipulated 72-hour period, the agitation will be resumed and intensified.

The development follows days of unrest on the campus over issues that students said required immediate intervention from the university authorities.
