Haflong-Silchar highway hit by massive traffic jam after coal truck gets stranded

Vehicular movement on National Highway 27 connecting Haflong and Silchar was severely disrupted on July 17 after a coal-laden truck got stranded at Dolaichung area under Harangajao Police Station in Assam's Dima Hasao district.

The truck became immobilised on the highway, resulting in a complete traffic bottleneck and leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides of the road.

Long queues of passenger vehicles and goods carriers were seen stretching along the highway as commuters remained stuck for hours.

Authorities are expected to launch efforts to remove the stranded truck and restore normal traffic movement at the earliest.

Meanwhile, motorists have been advised to avoid the Haflong-Silchar route or be prepared for significant delays until the road is cleared.
