Hagrama led BPF sets condition to join NDA, demands expulsion of UPPL

Kokrajhar witnessed a major political development on October 3 as the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) held its policy-making committee meeting at the Bodoland Guest House.

The party, led by its president Hagrama Mohilary, made it clear that it will only join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) if the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) is expelled from the coalition.

Mohilary categorically stated that unless the UPPL is removed, the BPF will continue to function independently outside the alliance. “First, friendship must be clear, only then can government formation be discussed,” he said, stressing that political clarity must come before any power-sharing talks.

During the meeting, the BPF also deliberated on how to fulfill promises made in its election manifesto, expressing hope that the BJP will extend support in achieving them.

The party outlined its key priorities, with land pattas for people in Bodoland at the top of the agenda. The revival of 16 BTC departments and the restoration of full administrative powers to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) were also highlighted as major goals.

This development marks a decisive turn in Bodoland’s political landscape, as the BPF signals both its readiness to align with the NDA and its firm stance against sharing space with the UPPL.
