Hagrama Mohilary lays foundation for Zubeen Garg Park on late singer’s birth celebration

On the occasion of celebrated late singer Zubeen Garg’s 53rd birth celebration, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary unveiled a series of development initiatives dedicated to the late music icon. The announcements came after Mohilary attended a blood donation camp, laid the foundation stone for the proposed Zubeen Garg Park, and planted Nahor saplings.

Mohilary said a state-of-the-art park would be constructed across 30 bighas of land at an estimated cost of Rs 25–30 crore. The park, he said, would be developed as a modern and aesthetically designed public space.

He further announced that a statue of legendary musician Dr Bhupen Hazarika would be installed in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), while a building dedicated to the 15th-century saint-reformer Srimanta Sankardev would be constructed in Gosaigaon.

Highlighting plans to honour Zubeen Garg’s legacy, Mohilary informed that the schools in Bijni and Tamulpur where the singer studied would undergo significant infrastructure upgrades.

“Zubeen Garg was one of my closest friends,” Mohilary said, adding that the park named after the beloved artiste would be developed into a world-class facility befitting his memory.

Earlier in the day, Mohilary paid floral tribute at Zubeen Garg’s portrait before joining a blood donation drive. He then laid the foundation stone of the Zubeen Garg Park and later planted Nahor saplings as part of the commemorative events.
