Hagrama Mohilary's wife Sewli eyes BPF ticket in Assam's Kokrajhar
Sewli Mohilary, wife of Bodoland Territorial Council chief Hagrama Mohilary, submitted her application seeking the party ticket of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) for the Kokrajhar constituency on March 16, ramping up the race for the Assam Assembly polls.
She handed in the application at the party's Kokrajhar district office, joined by the district president, secretary and dozens of supporters.
Mohilary said diverse communities and religious groups pressed her to contest. Responding to their calls, she aims to drive welfare and development in the area. She voiced strong confidence in voter support, predicting victory if nominated.
The filing pits her against Pramila Rani Brahma, a former minister and senior BPF figure, who submitted her bid for the seat a day earlier on Sunday, March 15.
District leaders voiced support for Mohilary and noted that BPF's central leadership will finalise candidates in due course.
