‘Happy 24th Anniversary, Goldie’: Garima Saikia Garg remembers Zubeen Garg in emotional post
“Happy 24th Anniversary, Goldie!! In every lifetime… in every rebirth… May you always surround me with your love and blessings, my child of God.”
With these words, Garima Saikia Garg marked what would have been her 24th wedding anniversary with legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, turning a day of celebration into one of quiet remembrance.
On the occasion, Garima shared an emotional video on her social media handle, revisiting moments from their anniversary celebration last year, the last time the couple marked the day together. The video, filled with memories of happier times, struck a deep chord with viewers, many of whom expressed grief and solidarity in the comments.
This year, the anniversary was observed in silence. The images shared by Garima reflected a profound sense of loss, underscoring how abruptly life changed after Zubeen Garg’s untimely death. The absence was palpable, as moments once shared together were now remembered alone.
For the people of Assam, the day rekindled a collective sense of grief. Zubeen Garg was more than a celebrated singer; he was a cultural icon whose voice shaped emotions, music, and identity across generations. Even in his absence, his songs continue to resonate deeply.
Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19, 2025, in Singapore, where he had travelled to attend the Northeast Festival.
