Heavy rain triggers power outage; students write exams by candlelight in Assam’s Bongaigaon
Students at a school in Abhayapuri in Assam’s Bongaigaon district were forced to write their examinations by candlelight after heavy rainfall triggered a power outage in the town.
The incident occurred at Abhayapuri Bapuji High School on March 14, where examinations for Classes VI and VII were underway.
According to local sources, continuous rain since the previous night disrupted electricity supply across Abhayapuri. While the exams were in progress, the area was suddenly plunged into darkness, causing difficulties for students appearing for the tests.
With electricity yet to be restored, the school authorities arranged candles to ensure that the examination could continue.
Despite the challenging conditions, the exams were conducted with the help of candlelight, officials said.
