An attempt at cattle theft in Latabari, Bokakhat in Assam ended with a luxury vehicle being set ablaze by enraged villagers after the culprits fled the scene on March 28.
According to reports, a group of four cattle thieves was caught in the act by the village protection group while they were loading stolen cattle into a high-end vehicle after untying them from a cowshed.
The villagers immediately raised an alarm, prompting the thieves to abandon both the cattle and their getaway vehicle before escaping under the cover of darkness.
Angered by the incident, the locals set the vehicle on fire, reducing it to ashes before authorities arrived. Soon after, police and fire brigade teams reached the location and doused the flames.
Law enforcement officials have launched a search operation to track down the absconding suspects, while investigations into the case continue. The burnt vehicle was identified by its registration number AS12 AA 2648.
