Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a new Judicial Court building in Sivasagar on June 15, to improve legal infrastructure and ensure the "Ease of Justice" in the state. The event was graced by the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vijay Bishnoi, who joined the Chief Minister in dedicating the new facility to the public.
Chief Minister Sarma took to Twitter to announce the inauguration, stating, "With an aim towards ensuring Ease of Justice, I am joining the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court, Hon’ble Mr Justice Vijay Bishnoi to dedicate a new district court building in Sivasagar."
His tweet was accompanied by a short video of the newly constructed building, showcasing its modern infrastructure designed to provide comprehensive legal services under one roof.
The new District Court building in Sivasagar is a crucial addition to the state's judicial framework, aimed at delivering accessible and efficient legal services to the residents of Sivasagar and neighboring regions. The Chief Minister emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing judicial infrastructure across Assam, mentioning the substantial investment being made to this end.
"This is the new District Court Building in Sivasagar, which has been dedicated to the people today. All legal services will be available here under one roof. We are spending ₹300 cr to improve judicial infrastructure across all districts," Sarma tweeted.
The inauguration of this facility is expected to streamline legal processes, reduce case backlogs, and provide a conducive environment for the judiciary to operate efficiently. The centralized location of various legal services within the new court building will facilitate easier access for citizens, promoting a more effective judicial system.
