Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday, August 4 inaugurated the newly developed Saraighat Lake Park in Amingaon, marking a significant step toward enhancing sustainable tourism and preserving the region’s natural wetlands.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the Chief Minister said the objective behind the project was twofold conserving the ecological significance of the wetland and transforming it into a vibrant tourist destination.
“We envisioned preserving the wetland while creating a thoughtfully designed structure to attract tourists,” CM Sarma said. “Today, we have unveiled a beautiful new zone around Saraighat Lake, and it’s already drawing considerable footfall. I’m extremely pleased with the progress.”
He also lauded the efforts of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and expressed confidence that the area’s charm and tourism potential would grow even further in the coming days.
The park, developed with a blend of ecological sensitivity and modern design, is expected to become a prominent spot for both local visitors and travelers from outside the state.
