Himanta Biswa Sarma: Person like Badruddin Ajmal should never be invited to sacred stage of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha

Speaking at at the 93rd Annual Session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha in Rangia on February 11, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a poignant plea asserting that individuals with ideologies contrary to the essence of Srimanta Sankardeva should never be welcomed onto its revered platform.

Expressing deep-seated concerns, Sarma said, "Person like Badruddin Ajmal should never be invited to the pure stage of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha." In his speech, he underlined his profound dismay over instances where figures such as Ajmal were extended invitations to the sanctified podium.

Sarma said, "My inner heart cries out loud. The person who does not know how to respect women, the person who says that women should always stay in Burqa, the person who says women are machines for giving birth to children—those kinds of persons do not deserve to be on the podium at events of Srimanta Sankardeva."

The Chief Minister's remarks resonated with the ethos of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha, an organization deeply entrenched in promoting the cultural legacy and spiritual teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha in preserving Assam's cultural heritage and advancing education, Sarma conveyed his gratitude, affirming support from the government. He reiterated, "Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha should never worry about any support, be it financial."

The Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha, established in 1930, stands as the cornerstone of Assam's socio-religious fabric, championing the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdev while spearheading initiatives in education and cultural preservation.
