Himanta Biswa Sarma seeks probe after four Assam youths found dead in Bengaluru

The mysterious deaths of four youths from Assam in Bengaluru have triggered shock, grief and serious questions, prompting intervention from the Assam government and a high-level probe by Karnataka Police.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, January 31, described the incident as “deeply unfortunate” and said the mortal remains of the four youths would be brought back to Assam “with full honour and dignity.” He also directed the Assam Police to coordinate closely with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and said he would take up the matter with Karnataka Chief Minister later in the day.

In an official response, the Chief Minister instructed that all necessary arrangements be made to ensure the bodies are returned to their respective homes in Assam with due respect.

The bodies of the four youths were found inside a locked rented room in the Mutsandra area of Bengaluru Rural district, an incident that sparked panic in the locality and raised serious concerns over the circumstances leading to their deaths.

The deceased have been identified as Jayanta Sinte Khageswar, Narendranath Taid, Doctor Taid and Dhananjay Taid. All four were reportedly employed at a Coca-Cola warehouse in the area and were staying together in the rented accommodation.

According to preliminary information, local residents alerted the authorities after noticing suspicious circumstances. Police personnel rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Chandrakant visited the scene to assess the situation firsthand.

The exact cause of death remains unknown, and police have registered a case to probe all possible angles. Meanwhile, the families of the deceased have alleged foul play, claiming the youths were deliberately murdered, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding case.
