Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, August 23 slammed Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind chief's statement over hate speech and demanding his removal from the post of Assam CM.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind led by President Maulana Mahmood Madani , asserting that the organisation’s brand of politics had lost relevance and credibility in present-day Assam.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced a major development push in Jagiroad with the distribution of financial assistance to thousands of women entrepreneurs under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission.
As part of the ambitious scheme designed to empower women and promote self-reliance, around 38,000 women from the Jagiroad constituency formally received the capital support.
Addressing a massive public gathering at Dreamland Playground in Jagiroad, Dr. Sarma underlined his government’s commitment to sustaining Assam’s growth momentum. He urged citizens to make proper use of government funds and welfare schemes, noting that the pace of development in the state had multiplied significantly. “The pace of growth has accelerated from two to ten, and in the coming days, it will only grow stronger,” he remarked.
Earlier in the day, Sarma laid the foundation stone for a ten-storey women’s hostel at the Jagiroad Semiconductor Project site and inaugurated the foundation stone of the Jagiroad Sub-Divisional Office at the Mayang Circle complex.
The programme was attended by local MLA and minister Pijush Hazarika, Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Deuri, minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, and senior officials of the district administration.
