Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a controversial statement during his visit to Odisha on May 28, claimed that efforts to reclaim Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) would commence soon, asserting that the region rightfully belongs to India.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma stated, "If you watch Pakistan TV channels, you will realise that the effort has begun."
"POK will come to India, and we will soon commence the efforts because POK is ours," the chief minister said.
Pakistan has traditionally claimed the entire region of Kashmir as its territory, while India maintains that POK is an integral part of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The long-standing dispute over Kashmir has been a major source of conflict between the two countries.
