Himanta Biswa Sarma’s family reaches swearing-in venue; mother arrives in wheelchair

Family members of Assam CM‑designate Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived at the Veterinary College ground in Khanapara on Tuesday, May 12, ahead of his swearing-in ceremony as Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term.
 

Among those who arrived at the venue were his mother Mrinalini Devi, who was seen arriving in a wheelchair, his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, son Nandil Biswa Sarma, and daughter Sukanya Sarma.
 

Speaking to reporters at the venue in Guwahati, Sukanya Sarma said the family was delighted to be part of the occasion.
 

“We are feeling very happy and delighted to be here,” she said.
 

Riniki Bhuyan Sarma described the occasion as a special moment for the family.
 

“It is a very happy moment,” she said.
 

The swearing-in ceremony at Khanapara is being attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior Union ministers, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from NDA-ruled States.
