Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made history by visiting three Durga Puja venues in Basugaon on Friday. This marks the first time a state Chief Minister has participated in the Durga Puja celebrations in Basugaon.
The Chief Minister's visit was planned, with the district administration enforcing stringent security measures to ensure a safe and festive atmosphere. Dr. Sarma arrived directly from Kokrajhar and began his tour at the Thana Road Thuribari Durga Puja pandal. He then proceeded to Basugaon Barowari Durga Puja pandal, which has been a focal point of celebrations for over a century. His final stop was the Basugaon BTC Road Sarbajanin Durga Puja pandal, where he took a moment to seek the blessings of Goddess Durga.
This unprecedented visit comes at a crucial time as Basugaon gears up for the upcoming by-elections in the Sidli Assembly constituency, making the Chief Minister's presence even more significant.
