I will rule BTC for 15 years, says BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary
BTC Chief and senior Hagrama Mohilary on Friday, March 6, asserted that he would continue to lead the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) for at least the next 15 years. Mohilary made the remark while addressing a public meeting during the “Dispur Chalo” programme organised by the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) at Nimuwa in Assam’s Baksa district.
Addressing the gathering, Mohilary assured the people that the BPF would work towards resolving the various issues faced by the public in the BTC region. He also spoke on several matters concerning the council, including the issue of eviction drives and Special Recruitment (SR), stating that the party remains committed to safeguarding the interests of the people.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the programme, Mohilary expressed hope that Narendra Modi would announce beneficial initiatives for the BTC region during his proposed visit to Kokrajhar on March 13.
Reacting to questions about Pramod Boro, Mohilary said the people would judge his leadership, adding that he did not consider Boro a leader. He also clarified that his wife would not contest the upcoming Assembly elections.
The meeting witnessed several individuals formally joining the BPF in the presence of Mohilary. A number of senior party leaders and workers also attended the programme.
